Strange Flowers: Video Trailer

“My best days are behind me — I know this.

I know that I will die here, confined in this place, surrounded by the wailing of madmen.

There is nothing I can do to change this now.

So much of what I have worked for is gone.

Years ago, before they put me in this place, I was a naturalist — a botanist. I led scientific expeditions to the most remote parts of the world. I collected rare specimens, discovered new species of plants, published my findings in the most prestigious academic journals. I observed the most remarkable things in my travels — things I would not have believed, had I not seen them with my own eyes.

And now?

My career is in shambles. My reputation, tarnished. My collection has been stolen from me, scattered, sold to off to the highest bidder. How many of my precious specimens are now in the hands of competitors? Of inferior minds who could never have found the fortitude to collect such things on their own?

No matter… It’s all in the past now; there is nothing I can do to change this.

But even now, even after all the indignity that I have suffered, I refuse to abandon my botanical research! I have time. And I still have my mind — whatever they might claim, my mind is intact. And so I can continue my work. I can tell my stories. I can document the things that I have discovered during my botanical expeditions.

I have travelled so much… I have been to the most remote corners of this world… dark places inhabited by strange men… pale men who file their teeth to points, who raise their children amongst the feral things of the woods, who murmur to one another in a tongue that bears more resemblance to the drone of insects than human speech…

I saw so many things in these cruel places…

And I brought back with me… flowers.

Such strange flowers

My name is Dr. Franz Sieber. And these are my stories.”
